“We desperately need locational pricing… It’s mad we’re not doing this.”
So says Greg Jackson, CEO and founder of Octopus Energy, on this week’s episode of Cleaning Up, the first episode of Season 13.
This is Greg’s second appearance on Cleaning Up. We first talked with him back in February 2021, before the energy crisis transformed the face of UK energy. Since that first interview, Octopus has transformed from a plucky little startup to the largest supplier of electricity in the UK.
It’s a fantastic conversation between Michael and Greg, which gets into the nitty gritty of how Octopus has achieved its stellar success and whether an IPO is now on the cards; why the UK needs regional pricing to encourage renewable buildout in the right places; and why heat pumps are so much better than hydrogen, at least for home heating.

Our new members are: Actis, EcoPragma Capital, Eurelectic, the Gilardini Foundation, KKR, National Grid, Octopus Energy and Wärtsilä. Committed to Climate Leadership, these organisations are taking clear action to create a more sustainable future.
